Bloom was established by Salima F. Rasul, who has extensive professional experience guiding students through the complexities of the admissions process, helping students gain entrance to programs that include private, independent, undergraduate, and graduate schools across the US, Canada, and abroad. Through her educational background and previous work in this field, she is uniquely qualified to assist students in finding their fit and helping them achieve their educational goals.
On the career counselling side, in addition to her professional work in this area, Salima served as Career Representative for her class at Columbia Business School, assisting fellow students in career and industry changes and advancement. Salima is passionate about career counselling, seeing it as an imperative service to help students bridge the gap between their academic and professional lives.
Richard is a freelance software developer working with various startups in the Austin, TX area. He has tutored for the last twelve years, working primarily in math and science, though he welcomes the occasional economics or computer science student.
In his free time, he is an avid runner, guitarist, and competitive cruciverbalist. It feels like long ago, but Richard earned his undergraduate degree in Finance from MIT and his master's degree in Mathematics from Columbia University.
Tasneem is an experienced educator who helps students successfully apply to universities. Born in the United Kingdom and raised in Canada and the United States, Tasneem has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia (Canada), master’s degree in Public Health from Columbia University (USA), and a teaching certificate from TEACH-NOW (USA).
Her international career spans the globe including Canada, Pakistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Tajikistan as a health educator, career coach, higher education advisor, workshop facilitator, curriculum developer, high school teacher, and program manager. Prior to joining Bloom, Tasneem spent over 15 years working with high school students, recent university graduates, and young professionals to help them identify their strengths and choose fields of study and careers that they are excited about. She believes young people have the ability to be catalysts for change and is dedicated to empowering them to make a difference in the world.
Tasneem’s expertise lies in engaging students to write strong essays for university applications and develop strengths-based resumes. Tasneem is a mother to two young children and enjoys writing about motherhood in her spare time.
