Where It All Began

Bloom was established by Salima F. Rasul, who has extensive professional experience guiding students through the complexities of the admissions process, helping students gain entrance to programs that include private, independent, undergraduate, and graduate schools across the US, Canada, and abroad. Through her educational background and previous work in this field, she is uniquely qualified to assist students in finding their fit and helping them achieve their educational goals.

On the career counseling side, in addition to her professional work in this area, Salima served as Career Representative for her class at Columbia Business School, assisting fellow students in career and industry changes and advancement. Salima is passionate about career counseling, seeing it as an imperative service to help students bridge the gap between their academic and professional lives.

Biography

Will provides a full suite of educational services from tutoring and standardized test prep to essay editing and university consulting. Will is a passionate advocate, and has always enjoyed working directly with clients, whether with Bloom or elsewhere. Will relies on the strength of his connections with his clients and a shared understanding of their goals to guide his work.

Will’s work experience is varied, which gives him unique insight into the perspective of high school and college students. At Wesleyan, Will worked as a writing tutor, peer tutor and English language tutor for fellow Wesleyan students and Syrian refugees in the United States. In his senior year, he worked in the admissions department at Wesleyan, where he focused on interviewing prospective students and hosting info sessions. Upon graduation, Will apprenticed with fine woodworker, Fred Rossi, before joining an international law firm as a corporate paralegal. He also works in the Major Economic Crimes Bureau of the District Attorney’s Office of New York where he continues to expand on his research, writing, and communication skills.

Currently, Will is pursuing a graduate certificate in Transnational Organized Crime studies out of interest and is an avid outdoor adventurer. In his free time, Will enjoys traveling, reading, and trying new types of food. He’s always interested in meeting and learning about new people, and derives the most pleasure from spending time with friends and family.

Biography

At Bloom, Neve primarily supports students with biology, chemistry, and mathematics, and works to empower students in STEM subjects.

Educational Background

Neve graduated from Dalhousie University and is now a Master's candidate at the Normal Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University. During her time at Dalhousie, she completed a Bachelor's of Science in Biology, with a minor in Mathematics and an Environmental Impact Assessment certificate. In Fall 2024, she will begin her Master's in International Affairs, with a specialization in Health, Displacement, and Humanitarian Policy. Throughout her undergraduate degree, Neve was a teaching assistant for second and third-year biology courses and will begin a new teaching assistant role at Carleton.

At Bloom, Neve primarily supports students with biology, chemistry, and mathematics, and works to empower students in STEM subjects.

In her free time, Neve loves reading and hiking, and is looking forward to future travel plans with her friends and family. 

Biography

Neve Murley

Conor graduated from UBC, and now works at the institution full-time. With several years’ experience in event management, team building, and department operations, he is looking to pursue a career in administration and project management. Alongside these interests, Conor enjoys supporting students in their academic and intellectual pursuits.

Conor has been tutoring with Bloom for the last three years, helping to empower students in subjects across all levels in English, Socials, and History, and also has a particular enjoyment for/speciality in Human Geography/AP Human Geography.

In his free time, Conor enjoys exploring the many trails in British Columbia and is a keen follower of the Vancouver Canucks.

Taylor has known Salima since 2011, when she was a high school student looking for guidance on international college admissions.

Taylor has known Salima since 2011, when she was a high school student looking for guidance on international college admissions.

She continued to work with Salima throughout her time at Connecticut College, and while obtaining her masters degree at Columbia University. Now she is thrilled to return to Bloom as a tutor, focusing on writing, gender studies, and English. Taylor holds a BA and MA in religious studies, and is passionate about feminist theology. Taylor is also an avid equestrian, and loves to cook and bake when she’s not riding.
